A close relative of the Boston fern, this low maintenance tropical fern has dark green, gracefully arching, sword like fronds that are upwardly straight and narrow. Easy to grow with lush foliage, the ferns are often utilized as large container specimens which bring a tropical look to outdoor patios. Grow outdoors only in USDA Plant Zones 9-11, in all other areas the plant is typically grown as a houseplant where it is protected from temperatures below 65 deg F. The fern offers the added benefit of reducing indoor air pollution by removing toxins such as formaldehyde. Grows best in partial shade in consistently moist well drained soil.
